Our Ministries

Care Ministry — Leaders: Ed and Deborah Coram

The purpose of the Care Ministry is to make visitors and new members feel welcome and provide love, compassion and support as needed.

Health Awareness — Leader: Andrea Brown

The Ministry promotes health education, prevention and awareness to improve the health outlook, attitudes and well-being of the VLC congregation and the communities we serve.

Women’s Ministry — Leader: Kathleen Gunter

The Ministry is to provide fellowship for the women in the church, Christian growth and outreach to the women of the congregation and community. They meet the first Saturday morning of the month at 10 o’clock in the 24 classroom next to the café.

Outreach Ministry — Leaders: Mike and Patricia Scott

This ministry reaches out to the community and to targeted populations of parishioners at the church.

Single Mothers Ministry — Leader: Rosa Williams

This ministry serves the single mothers at the church.

Ministry of Compassion — Leaders: Michael and Gloria Moore

The Ministry serves members and families experiencing sickness, hospitalization or confinement to home or a facility as well as those who are bereaved

Drama/Fine Arts — Leader: Dana Cline

The Drama and Fine Arts ministry prepares and delivers special presentations/productions periodically and special skits that convey the Pastor’s message.

Media — Leader: Pastor Gary Waterman

There are four distinctive areas in the Ministry and still more sublevel areas located under the heading of Media. They are as follows: Sound, Video, Broadcast, and Cameras.

Music Ministry — Leader: Pastor Gary Waterman

This ministry which includes the Choir, Praise Team, and Musicians is responsible for providing the music for all sanctuary services and drama productions. We have found that worship at VLC is not just something you do, but a lifestyle you live. So we are an energetic collection of worshippers passionate about declaring the goodness, mercy and love of God and committed to ushering the church into a place of intimate worship through music. This is where we encounter his presence.

Prayer Ministry: Leaders: Harry and Gwen Sutherland

The Ministry prays for all prayer requests with great expectation, knowing God does hear and answer prayers. Weekly prayer is held in the main sanctuary on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

Sunday School Teacher — Leader: Nathan Wisdom

Effective Bible teachers remembering that … Teaching is part of the Great Commission. –a mandate of mission– Jesus said, “go and make disciples of all nations … teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:19-20).

Young at Heart — Leaders: Michael and Gloria Moore

The Ministry is comprised mostly of parishioners aged 55 and over. They meet the third Friday of each month in the Merlin Brown Building at 11:00 a.m., starting with a delicious lunch, followed by spiritual teaching or message.

Greeters/Hospitality — Leader: Doris Baxter

Greeters serve on the frontlines of the church’s hospitality ministry and provide a positive first impression for guests and regular attendees of the church.

Men’s Ministry – Men in Action — Leader: Joseph Bierria

The Ministry is to provide fellowship for the brethren, Christian growth and outreach to the men of the congregation and community. They meet the first Saturday of the month in the morning at 10 o’clock in the main sanctuary café.

Next Level Youth Ministry — Leader: Pastor Armand Mitchom

The Ministry provides focused ministry to all adolescents and young adults for practical and spiritual growth.

Security and Safety — Leader: Daniel Thomas

The ministry is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing security and safety for Pastor and the entire church for all services.

Ushers — Leader: Herb Harris

VLC ushers serve as doorkeepers in the house of the Lord. They serve the congregation with seating assistance, receiving offerings, and distributing materials.
