In 1998 Bishop J. Larry Gunter was appointed senior Pastor of Victorious Life church in Conyers Ga. Immediately God put a dream in the heart of the Pastor to build a Multicultural church without racial, national, cultural or color barriers. In October of 2008 another dream was realized when the Victorious Life congregation moved into a new 700 seat sanctuary. Under the Leadership of Pastor Gunter Victorious Life has experienced expediential growth with present membership reaching 1100.
Pastor and his wife Kathleen grew up in south Georgia as Southern Baptist. He and Kathleen became involved with the church of God as teenagers. For over 30 years they both have been active in Church of God ministry as an Evangelist and Pastor. The calling of God has taken Pastor Gunter around the world preaching the gospel. He presently conducts conventions annually in the country of Namibia Africa, where he helps overseer a large ministry called "Christ Love Ministries." Pastor and Kathleen are the parents of two children, and four grandchildren. Pastor Gunter attended Truett McConnell College and is a graduate of Beulah Heights University.
Victorious Life is blessed to have the talent and ministry of Pastor Gary Waterman. Pastor Gary is a 1989 graduate of Lee College and has been in active ministry for over twenty years as a senior pastor and a youth pastor. He currently holds the position of Pastor of the Music and Fine Arts Department of Victorious Life Church. He is married to his lovely wife, Kim and has two beautiful daughters, Taylor and McKenzie.
Justin Long - Student Pastor- College, High School, and Jr. High
Pastor Justin Long answered the calling that God had placed upon his life at the age of 14. He began to develop a passion to know God and make him known.
After High school Justin moved to Fort Myers, Florida to enroll in America's most intense, radical discipleship training for over 2 years called "Masters Commission". He traveled under the leadership of a national and international known evangelist Reggie Dabbs.
Once Pastor Justin graduated from Masters Commission he relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico to be a student pastor. There he spent almost 3 years under the leadership of Pastor Jotty Kinney.
Now He is on staff @ vlcog, under the leadership of Pastor Gunter. By Faith he believes that God will do what has never been done in the upcoming generation of Rockdale and NewtonCounty.
Even though he has allot of ministry going on, His first ministry would be his lovely wife Sandra. Sandra leads the girls discipleship and the next level worship team. They are the greatest team God has ever put together.
Pastor Matt Lundy has been since his teenage years an active member of Victorious Life Church. He has been involved in drama, outreach, worship band and children’s ministry. After graduating from high school he went on to minister with “The Mission” an outreach program through Lee University. He stayed for six months then felt a strong calling to return back to his home church. Upon returning he took up the role of Children’s Pastor with the church and started Victoryville Children’s Ministries.
Pastor Matt has built a children’s ministry based on the principles of Acts 2:17 – “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Matt believes that no matter the age of a child God can and will use them. There is no age limit on who God is pouring His Spirit out on, just ALL people.
In 2005 Matt married his wife Jenny who has been a tremendous blessing to this ministry. She has worked in Children’s Ministry for 10 + years involved in everything from puppets to clowning. “Mrs. Jenny” has a true heart for outreach to the Conyers community and heads up the Lighting the Path Children’s Outreach Ministries division of Victorious Life Church. Pastor Matt and Jenny have a vision that every child in the Conyers area will not only know who God is, but also have a personal and growing relationship with Him.
Pastor John has been in the ministry for over 18 years. He began at Christian Fellowhip Church, under the leadership of Rev. C. E. Cates. He grew up in the Avondale Church of God and then went to Christian Fellowship church on Memorial drive. After leaving Christian Fellowship he moved to New Life Praise Center under Dr. Roger Aikens. There he became an associate Pastor. After graduating from Moody Theological Seminary, with an associate degree in biblical studies. He helped Dr. Akins start a Bible school at New Life Praise Center. He was The School director and taught there for 10 years. Pastor Johns heart is in Preaching, Teaching, and Missions. His first missions trip was to Lucy Jamacia which set his heart to missions since then his most recent Missions trip was to Nicaraugua thru Love-Link Ministries,Pastors and Ministers conference. Pastor John believes we can change the world for GOD reaching and wining one soul at a time. For almost 3 years now Pastor John has been here at Victorious Life, under Pastor Gunter, where he serves as Missions Pastor and teaches the discipleship class.
