In March of 1998 Pastor J. Larry Gunter was appointed pastor of Victorious Life Church in Conyers Ga. Immediately Pastor Gunter Knew that God had a plan and a purpose for this church and ministry. The Vision that God gave pastor was to build a church that looks like heaven, a multicultural Church. Pastor Gunter knew that God had called him to pastor a muti-cultural church that would reach East Atlanta for Jesus Christ.
Under his leadership Victorious Life started making plans to move the congregation from the very small traditional sanctuary that they had worshipped in for two years to the family life center. The members of the church without delay caught the vision of the pastor to begin converting the gym into a worship center. Victorious Life would worship in the family life center for seven years, which was just a part of God’s over all plan to continue the vision of the pastor.
In August of 2006 Victorious Life reached another level of the dream moving toward the completion of the vision. The church broke ground to build a new sanctuary. That dream and vision became reality October 2008 when the congregation of Victorious life moved into a new contemporary 700 seat sanctuary.
Pastor J. Larry Gunter grew up in South Georgia as a Southern Baptist. He and his wife Kathleen also a former Baptist, both became involved with the Church of God as teenagers. Pastor and Kathleen met each other while attending the same high School in South Georgia and on June 1st 1971 they were married. The Gunter’s have two children, Larry Jr. and Bridgett Taylor and four grandchildren Kandler, Farrah, Jasper and Emma.
Pastor Gunter has been involved in ministry for more than 30 years as a pastor and evangelist. God has opened doors for him to minister in many countries of the world , preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He attended Truett McConnell College and graduated from Beulah Heights Bible College. Pastor Justin Long answered the calling that God had placed upon his life at the age of 14. He began to develop a passion to know God and make him known everywhere. In highschool he started a bible study as a freshman called "not ashamed". It started off very small, but by his senior year it had grew to almost 100.
After Highschool Justin moved to Fort Myers, Florida to enroll in America's most intense, radical discipleship training for over 2 years called "Masters Commission". He traveled under the leadership of a national and international known evangelist Reggie Dabbs. Reggie Dabbs played a very important role the training of Pastor Justin.
Once Pastor Justin graduated from Masters Commission he relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico to be a student pastor. There he spent almost 3 years under the leadership of Pastor Jotty kinney. He says that Pastor Jotty was one of the most incredible men he has ever worked with. Justin helped raise a group of over 150 students that were world class men and women of God. He led them on two international mission trips and one stateside mission trip. They were never the same after the mission trip.
Now after a very tough transition Pastor Justin is in Conyers, Ga under the leadership of Pastor Gunter. By Faith he believes that God will do what has never been done in the young adults of Conyers and the whole state of GA, and the best is yet to come!!!!!!! He is also engaged to the most incredible, anointed woman of God. Her name is Sandra Wendler. They will be getting married May of 2009. "One shall put a thousand to flight, but two shall put ten thousand to flight."
Pastor Matt Bio:
Pastor Matt Lundy has been since his teenage years an active member of Victorious Life Church. He has been involved in drama, outreach, worship band and children’s ministry. After graduating from high school he went on to minister with “The Mission” an outreach program through Lee University. He stayed for six months then felt a strong calling to return back to his home church. Upon returning he took up the role of Children’s Pastor with the church and started Victoryville Children’s Ministries.
Pastor Matt has built a children’s ministry based on the principles of Acts 2:17 – “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Matt believes that no matter the age of a child God can and will use them. There is no age limit on who God is pouring His Spirit out on, just ALL people.
In 2005 Matt married his wife Jenny who has been a tremendous blessing to this ministry. She has worked in Children’s Ministry for 10 + years involved in everything from puppets to clowning. “Mrs. Jenny” has a true heart for outreach to the Conyers community and heads up the Lighting the Path Children’s Outreach Ministries division of Victorious Life Church. Pastor Matt and Jenny have a vision that every child in the Conyers area will not only know who God is, but also have a personal and growing relationship with Him.

Pastor John has been in the ministry for over 18 years. He began at Christian Fellowhip Church, under the leadership of Rev. C. E. Cates. He grew up in the Avondale Church of God and then went to Christian Fellowship church on Memorial drive. After leaving Christian Fellowship he moved to New Life Praise Center under Dr. Roger Aikens. There he became an associate Pastor. After graduating from Moody Theological Seminary, with an associate degree in biblical studies. He helped Dr. Akins start a Bible school at New Life Praise Center. He was The School director and taught there for 10 years. Pastor Johns heart is in Preaching, Teaching, and Missions. His first missions trip was to Lucy Jamacia which set his heart to missions since then his most recent Missions trip was to Nicaraugua thru Love-Link Ministries,Pastors and Ministers conference. Pastor John believes we can change the world for GOD reaching and wining one soul at a time. For almost 3 years now Pastor John has been here at Victorious Life, under Pastor Gunter, where he serves as Missions Pastor and teaches the discipleship class.
Kathleen became Executive Director of The Children's Center in 2005. The Children's Center is a daycare that not only provides care and love for children but also provides a spiritual atmosphere for children to grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
